Live Your Goals

FIFA and PNGFA conducted the Live Your Goals program at the National Sports Institute in Goroka, Eastern Highlands, on Sunday 09 October.

More than 50 schoolgirls from the area took part in the program learning and practising new football skills with the PNG U-20 Women’s World Cup team, who are currently training for the tournament to be held in Port Moresby in November.

Susa, the official mascot of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Papua New Guinea 2016, also made an appearance to the delight of the schoolgirls. The morning included running football drills with the different age groups as young as five years old and up to 15 years old.

The program ended with competitions in footwork and ball control and three skilled schoolgirls each won an adidas football, sponsored by Goroka Grammar School.

Head Coach Lisa Cole said the success of the program shows a strong interest and talent in the sport and hoped that this could develop into a weekly program to build confidence for young girls in Papua New Guinea.
