In March 2018, Stella Magazine began the Spoken Word Project in Port Moresby. This was the first of a series of spoken word events that now take place each month in Port Moresby.
Listen to our Podcast of the opening night.
Organised by founder and editor of Stella magazine, Amanda Donigi and spoken word artist Hans Lee, the Spoken Word Project provides a platform for contemporary voices of Papua New Guinea and the Pacific in the development of a national and regional identity.
“This platform can be a vessel for our voices as we contend with the idea of our own identity and belonging and the politics associated with that,” said Mr Lee.
Storytellers, writers and wordsmiths are invited to register with Stella magazine to perform at the next event.
